One of things that I love most about photography is its ability to reveal things to us that we can't see. For example, our eyes can't freeze or blur motion like the camera's shutter is capable of doing. Seeing through the camera's eyes rather than our own is a revelatory process. Letting the camera lead me down a path that I never knew existed [because my own eyes couldn't see it] has been both terrifying and exhilarating.
It made sense for me to use the camera in this way to photograph the human body under water. For me, the camera was my seeing eye dog, navigating me through the turbulent waters. As the body moved through the water, the camera distorted, abstracted, and in the end, revealed things about the human form unbeknownst to me.
